Chelsea’s £29million star (BBC) Antonio Rudiger has posted an honest message on Instagram admitting his side “need to do better” after their 0-0 draw against Brighton on Tuesday night.

The Blues could only manage a point last night at Stamford Bridge in their Premier League fixture against Brighton.

Amid all the controversy of Premier League clubs pulling out of the proposed European Super League, there was still an important game.

Thomas Tuchel’s side kept a clean sheet with Kepa Arrizabalaga in-between the sticks, but going forward there was a real lack of quality.

It means that Chelsea sit fourth in the table right now, but they are only above fifth-placed West Ham on goal difference.

28-year-old defender Rudiger, who has been a revelation since coming back into the fold under Tuchel, uploaded a post after playing during the Brighton draw.

It’s not something you want to use an excuse, but everything that’s been going on during the last 72 hours off the pitch surely played a small part with what happened on the pitch against Brighton.

Unfortunately, Chelsea were miles off the pace, so they need to take the point and move on sharply.

There is a massive showdown against London rivals West Ham next in the league, which should have a massive impact in the race for the Champions League positions.
