Mario Melchiot has claimed that Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic should leave the club to go play regularly elsewhere.

Pulisic, who’s heading to the World Cup in Qatar with the United States, is an individual that’s a popular topic for discussion.

The 24-year-old attacker has been a talisman in US football for several years, but his position at Stamford Bridge has often been in and out of the starting line-up.

It’s quite alarming that the £58million winger has only started five of his 17 Blues appearances this season.

Christian Pulisic should leave Chelsea

Melchiot, an ESPN pundit and former Chelsea player, has advised Pulisic that leaving the West London club would be the best move for his career.

“He is too important for his national team… He now needs to be somewhere where he plays every week” Melchiot told ESPN.

“He’s won enough trophies, but sometimes it eats inside. Winning is always nicer when you are also performing. If you’re just winning, it’s not always that beautiful to do.”

The frustration with Pulisic is that Chelsea fans know how good he can be. There’s just no real consistency in his game, though.

He’s been a tad unfortunate not to get minutes during this season, but he’s had plenty of opportunities in the last few years to grow into the talisman at Stamford Bridge.

There was a period when he looked like he could be Eden Hazard’s replacement, something that has drastically fallen away.

He’s a great option to have in the Blues squad, but nobody should begrudge him a move away.
