Chelsea fans were hopeful that the return of some of their big name attackers from injury was going to be the catalyst to kick on and confirm their place in the Champions League for next season.
The big name supporters were eager to welcome back was Nicolas Jackson, who had been absent since going off injured in a game on deadline day of the winter transfer window.
Despite him clearly bringing a lot to the attack when he plays, the Senegal international has endured a lengthy goal drought that extends beyond when he was injured.
He is yet to find the net in 2025, and failed to take a number of big chances when really needed in the 2-2 draw against Ipswich Town.

In the process, Jackson set a bit of unwanted history as far as this season goes. According to WhoScored, it is the most shots any player has had without hitting the target in the Premier League this season.
Chelsea have not been helped by the fact that Cole Palmer’s goals have also dried up of late. It is now 14 games since their talisman found the net in all competitions.

Chelsea chiefs will likely have been hoping to get a good look at Liam Delap in their Premier League meeting at the weekend, however saw him named on the bench due to a rib injury.
Blues fans were impressed by Delap in his brief cameo at Stamford Bridge though, as their side assess a number of options ahead of the summer transfer window.
A variety of names are on their reported shortlist. Links to the likes of Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko refuse to go away.
What has become clear this season though is that Chelsea need more regular goals in attack, with Jackson unfortunately showing this campaign he cannot be relied on to provide the goods in pressure situations.
