Fabrizio Romano has put the brakes on Chelsea’s recent transfer reports after it was claimed they had agreed a deal to sign one top youngster.

He took to Twitter to state that the Blues have not yet reached an agreement with Corinthians for the signing of Gabriel Moscardo.

It was claimed late last night that the Blues had become the first team to agree a fee with the Brazilian club, with a total of £26m previously being discussed as required to bring him in.

Chelsea have been tracking the midfielder for a number of months, with them making an effort to sign him back in the summer.

No deal was reached though, and this opened up the possibility that a number of other elite sides could pursue the signing.

Barcelona have been previously mentioned as a potential suitor to Moscardo, with them seeing him as the heir to Sergio Busquets.

Chelsea not actually close to Moscardo

Romano has now claimed that PSG can be added to the list of clubs that are interested in a deal, and nothing looks imminent as far as Chelsea are concerned.

He said: “Paris Saint-Germain remain among clubs keen on signing Gabriel Moscardo. The race is open — including English clubs too.

“No agreement done with Chelsea and it doesn’t look imminent with Chelsea at this stage.”

Chelsea supporters will be wondering if another young midfielder is necessary after the recent transfer activity in that position.

Alongside obvious starters Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, the Blues have spent big money on Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu and Andrey Santos who all play in that role.

The latter is currently enduring a rough loan spell at Nottingham Forest, with there being claims that the club may look to bring him back in January.
