Chelsea star Noni Madueke has just explained what he’s been told to do by Enzo Maresca next season.
Enzo Maresca, along with his coaching staff, arrived at Chelsea this summer. They’re currently on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, but there’s less than a month to go before their Premier League season kicks off at home to champions Manchester City.
The entire Blues squad will be adapting to the new management style, which is centred around possession-based football.
Noni Madueke, 22, is part of the Chelsea group looking to get to grips with Maresca’s football. Interestingly, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano told CaughtOffside in June that Madueke is considered an important player by Chelsea.

Noni Madueke shares instructions from Enzo Maresca
Madueke is an exciting attacker who predominantly plays on the right wing so he can cut infield on his stronger left foot. It’s the position he played on Thursday during the 2-2 draw against Wrexham in the first pre-season match of the summer.
Chelsea’s wide man has given specific detail on what Maresca wants from his wingers next season, which is to stay patient high and wide.
Madueke told The Daily Mail: “New manager. New tactical ideas. It will take a little time to fully get that over to the boys but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s promising. It’s a different style of play but one I feel we’re well suited to.
“It’s about staying high and waiting for that killer pass when you can go and do real damage. It’s about being patient and waiting for the opportunity to run and do my stuff. That’s the discipline that the manager wants and if the manager wants that, then I’ll do it. Simple.”
Targets for Noni Madueke
It would be great to see Madueke hit double digits next season for goals. This comes after eight goals and three assists last term in 34 appearances across all competitions.
The skillful Englishman has all the tools to beat his full-back time and time again, but can he show that extra bit of composure in front of goal?

When you see how Leicester’s main wingers performed last year in a Maresca team, it should encourage Chelsea’s current wide players. Stephy Mavididi got 13 goals and six assists, while Issahaku Fatawu had seven goals and 13 assists.
