It is well-documented that Chelsea were not afraid yet again to add plenty of players to their ranks during the recent summer transfer window.

The attacking areas in particular were well addressed at Stamford Bridge, with Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix and Pedro Neto coming into the club.

This has left many saying some of those already with the Blues should be fearing for their place, with Noni Madueke certainly one of those players.

He has earned a starting place in Enzo Maresca’s starting side off the back of some very strong performances.

While plenty want to have their say on the size of Chelsea’s squad, Madueke has cleared up any exaggeration over just what the situation is like.

Madueke plays down exaggeration about size of Chelsea squad

He told TalkSPORT: “Of course, what you guys see on the outside is definitely slightly exaggerated. Of course, in the building, it’s a great place to be around and but yeah, of course, there’s a lot of things going on, definitely with all the signings and the turnover and stuff.

“But as a football player. Your job is to perform in the pitch. So you can’t really be thinking about all of that outside stuff. You just have to zone in and try and play your best football. And when you’re called upon, I feel like that’s what I try and do.”

Madueke called up to England

Madueke was named in the Team of the Week for his display in the 6-2 win against Wolves, and has seen his strong domestic form rewarded with a call-up to the England senior side for the very first time.

He will feel confident at this stage that he can keep his place in the starting side for the upcoming games, despite the plethora of players at the manager’s disposal.

Maresca will also have the Conference League and domestic cup games to use some of his other players, with them all eager to nail down a regular place in the starting side.
