Roy Keane has criticised Chelsea legend Eden Hazard for the condition he arrived in at Real Madrid.
Eden Hazard, who announced his retirement from football yesterday, joined the Spanish club back in 2019 overweight, something that he admitted.
And Keane, speaking on The Overlap‘s Stick To Football show, was critical of the former winger.

“I had put on five kilos,” Hazard admitted to L’Equipe shortly after his big move from Chelsea to Real Madrid.
Roy Keane slams Eden Hazard
While Keane acknowledges that Hazard had a lot of talent and displayed it at Chelsea, the Manchester United legend is disappointed with the Belgian for not looking after himself properly at Real Madrid.
“Brilliant player at Chelsea but when he turned up in the condition he turned up at Real Madrid, not good,” Keane said. “He’s had injuries, talented boy. But when he turned up at Real Madrid, I find it hard.
“It’s sad to see, but it goes to show that talent isn’t enough. It didn’t look like he had the full package when he went to Real Madrid. You can’t turn up overweight at your first pre-season at the club.”
Injuries also to blame for Eden Hazard’s failures at Real Madrid
Maybe Hazard could have looked after his body better, but arriving overweight at Real Madrid is not the only reason why he struggled there.
The retired Belgium international picked up a lot of injuries at the Santiago Bernabeu. It was hard for him to get a run in the team and find some rhythm.

The man who brought him to Real Madrid, his idol Zinedine Zidane, would also go on to depart the club. That would not have helped.
Whatever the case, at Chelsea, Hazard will always be a legend, with his career there obviously being much more different to his one at Los Blancos.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, he scored 110 times and helped the Blues to win the Premier League title on two occasions. He is a Chelsea great.
