‘Not here’: Sky reporter says £100,000-a-week Chelsea player missed session today, despite training yesterday

Mykhailo Mudryk was surprisingly missing from Chelsea training today (Wednesday) – despite taking part in Tuesday’s session.

That is according to Sky Sports.

So, what is the latest on Mykhailo Mudryk at Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Ukraine international came on for Carney Chukwuemeka at half-time in Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to West Ham.

Mudryk struggled to impose himself on the London derby, but did not appear to leave the London Stadium with an injury of any kind.

In fact, Chelsea even posted a photo on the club’s official website of the 22-year-old in training on Tuesday.

Now – however – Mudryk has gone missing.

Sky Sports reported live from Cobham: “Chelsea fans will also be hoping to get a first glimpse of Romeo Lavia. He wasn’t part of the squad on Sunday despite having been registered in time to feature, but Pochettino was saying it will take a bit of time for him to come up to speed… another player not here this morning (in training) is Mykhailo Mudryk.”

Clearly, the £100,000-a-week man’s whereabouts are a mystery.

In truth, it is possible that Mudryk was simply away from the session to undergo media duties, especially as Sky Sports were clearly at Cobham.

Chelsea must start Mudryk against Luton – if he is fit

In our view, Friday’s clash with Luton at Stamford Bridge represents a huge opportunity for Mudryk to kickstart his Chelsea career.

Hopefully, this does not come across as disrespectful to Rob Edwards and his side, but Chelsea really should be winning against the newly-promoted Hatters with ease, given the difference in personnel.

If the game does turn out as expected, Chelsea will create plenty of chances, which gives Mudryk a good chance of bagging his first Premier League goal for the Blues.

The Chelsea No.10 is surely desperate to net that maiden strike, as he has now gone 17 Premier League appearances without a goal since his £88.5m move from Shakhtar Donetsk in January.

Hopefully, Mudryk can put his struggles behind him on Friday, and cause Luton all kinds of problems.
