‘Nowhere near’… Jamie O’Hara claims £35m Chelsea player is miles away from being good enough

Chelsea put in a really bad defensive performance in their 4-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield last night.

Benoit Badiashile was one defender who started the game, and it is fair to say that former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara was not impressed with his display.

O’Hara was extremely critical of his performance on talkSPORT, claiming that the central defender is not good enough for Chelsea.

The Blues signed Badiashile from AS Monaco in the last January transfer window for £35m (BBC Sport).

Jamie O’Hara slams Benoit Badiashile after Liverpool display

O’Hara does not think Badiashile is at the required level to play for Chelsea.

Speaking about the Frenchman after the game, the talkSPORT pundit said: “Not good enough. I don’t know who he is. I don’t know where you’ve signed him from. He’s nowhere near good enough, he’s nowhere near good enough.”

Benoit Badiashile can still have a bright future at Chelsea

Badiashile did not have the best game at Liverpool, but we think O’Hara’s words are a bit harsh.

Overall, the France international is still a good defender. Last season, for example, he won 3.2 aerial duels per game in the Premier League, which was the highest average in Chelsea’s squad (WhoScored).

Badiashile has the height and physicality to become a successful Premier League defender. And at 22, he does have time to improve.

Yesterday was just a bad day at the office and not just for him. Mauricio Pochettino‘s side played poorly collectively and will be desperate to put the whole thing behind them now.
