‘Outstanding’: Gary Neville totally blown away by Chelsea player’s display in 3-0 win

Gary Neville was left totally blown away by the display of Chelsea star Thiago Silva on Sunday in the Premier League.

Silva scored the opener during Chelsea’s emphatic 3-0 away victory against London rivals Tottenham. Blues teammates N’Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger were also on the scoresheet.

36-year-old defender Silva put the visitors ahead when he made a brilliant connection with his header from a corner kick delivery.

The centre-half was equally as impressive with his back to goal, so it was an excellent all-round weekend performance from him.

Neville suggests that Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo attempted to target Silva with his players pressing high early on, but it’s a plan that ultimately failed.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

“In the first half there is no doubt Tottenham targeted him (Silva). Nuno’s tactics were all about [Heung-Min] Son getting off the back of him. He’s defended really well. The most outstanding player in this game. Sometimes I’m not so sure when selecting man of the match, but today I’m very sure,” Neville said on Sky Sports’ Main Event channel (6:15pm, 19 September).

Thiago Silva deal looks like daylight robbery

Chelsea pay Silva a hefty £105,000-a-week wage (Spotrac), but the fact he was signed on a free transfer last summer makes a deal for him daylight robbery.

The Brazilian was immense last season during his 34 senior appearances for the Blues and it feels odd he’s only been at the club a little over a year.

You could see from his celebration after his goal against Spurs that he loves Chelsea.

He is showing he can come in and out of the Chelsea XI but still perform at the highest level when needed by Tuchel.

He’s already one of the top defenders to play in the past couple of decades, but a Premier League title may propel him to the top in some people’s eyes.
