'Pain': Some Chelsea fans disappointed not to see £110k per-week star pictured in training

Followers of Chelsea noticed that Thiago Silva had not been included in the latest round of training pictures from Cobham.

If the Brazilian wasn’t back with the Blues squad, there will be some questions raised.

Thomas Tuchel confirmed in his latest press-conference that Silva hadn’t traveled to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League because he was doing his own work back in London.

Those eagle-eyed Chelsea supporters spotted that he was missing from the recent snaps and they weren’t best pleased.

Silva hasn’t featured since he was forced off through a thigh problem against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.

He’s probably played more games than many expected, especially because of his age and the chock-a-block campaign schedule everyone has endured.

But that one extra stretched seemed too far for Silva, who had to hobble off after half an hour at Spurs.

Thankfully, Chelsea have managed to cope defensively without their £110,000 per-week (Spotrac) centre-back.

Andreas Christensen has stepped in superbly during Silva’s absence and was excellent again on Tuesday night in Europe.

The Danish defender may be called upon again when Chelsea host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

It will of course be a blow if Silva is out for any longer, but the Blues have managed up to this point.
