Pat Nevin doesn’t want Chelsea to sell 22-year-old and make Kevin De Bruyne mistake again

Pat Nevin is hoping that Chelsea show a little bit of patience to one of their players.

Chelsea once had Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah on their books, two of the best footballers in the Premier League, but did not hold on to them for too long.

And Pat Nevin, speaking on London Is Blue, has urged his former club to show more patience to one of their current stars than what they afforded to the likes of De Bruyne and Salah in the past.

De Bruyne missed the first part of the season because of injury, but Salah has been on fire this term. In 20 Premier League appearances, the Egyptian has scored 14 goals.

Pat Nevin has high hopes for Mykhailo Mudryk

Nevin does not want to see Chelsea make the same mistake they made with De Bruyne with Mykhailo Mudryk, having great hopes for the young Ukrainian.

On Mudryk, the Chelsea legend said: “I have great hopes for Mudryk. Remember, Arsenal wanted him, other teams wanted him. Remember, we did have De Bruyne, we did have Mo Salah. It wasn’t working for them. It sometimes takes some players that little bit longer than others.”

Mykhailo Mudryk could have a bright future

To say things have not always gone to plan for Mudryk at Chelsea would be an understatement. The 22-year-old has really struggled at times.

Last season, for example, Mudryk failed to score a single goal in blue following his arrival from Shakhtar Donetsk.

He has improved this term, though, netting four times in all competitions, including against Arsenal, and has the skill set to become a top winger in the future.

His pace can be absolutely frightening at times. If Mudryk can start combining that with goals, then that is some wide man Chelsea could have in the future. Unlike with De Bruyne, then, they should not give up on the Ukraine international so quickly.
