Blues icon Pat Nevin believes that Raheem Sterling has been the only Chelsea player that Graham Potter has failed to get the best out of so far.
The 27-year-old was brought in to reinforce Chelsea’s attack as one of the prolific attackers in the Premier League in the last few years.
It is safe to say that Sterling has yet to meet the high expectations.
Having finished last season with 13 goals and five assists in the Premier League last season for Manchester City, the England international has had just three league goals and an assist for Chelsea.
The versatile winger has also failed to register any goal or assist in his last six appearances.
Nevin even believes that Sterling’s poor form puts his spot in England’s World Cup squad at risk.

“I’m watching Raheem Sterling right now, and I’ve said that Graham Potter has got the best from every player since he has been there, with one exception: Raheem Sterling,” the former Blues winger told BBC Radio 5 Live (via the Daily Mail).
“If he keeps playing the way he is right now, he’s not even a consideration for the World Cup.
“He is having a really, really bad time, and today he is having an absolutely terrible game [v Brighton].”
Potter’s playing Sterling as a left wing-back, albeit operating very high on the pitch, might have had an impact on the winger’s performance.
At Manchester City, he has developed into an inside forward who likes to score by making runs into the box rather than a traditional winger.
Playing wide under Potter means Sterling is often farther away from the opposition box.
It is not that he does not offer anything in this position, but it does not allow him to be as effective.
