Pat Nevin believes that Timo Werner is one individual that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is going to be “delighted’ with right now at Stamford Bridge.
Werner, 24, has come in for plenty of criticism since his arrival in the summer from RB Leipzig.
But his goal at the weekend in the win over Newcastle United now means he’s scored 10 times in 32 games across all competitions for the Blues this season.
Ex-Blues manager Frank Lampard alternated between playing him as a winger and centre-forward, but since the new boss took charge he’s played as one of the two inverted attackers behind one main striker.
The Germany international is contributing in most games even if he’s not scoring and the signs are Tuchel is now beginning to find a real tune out of him.
Nevin has suggested that Werner will be in the good books of the manager.
“Even though there were a few missed chances against the Toon, he was absolutely not stopping those perfectly-timed runs into scoring positions,” Nevin told the club’s official website.
“I reckon Thomas Tuchel is delighted with what he has seen so far from his compatriot and is utterly confident the goal rush will come.”

If you breakdown Werner’s contribution to Chelsea so far this campaign, then it’s been a fairly decent start to his career in English football without being a spectacular one.
Everyone expected him to hit the ground running by scoring a bucket load of goals, as he netted 34 in 45 games for Leipzig last season.
But the speed machine looks a nailed-on starter right now under Tuchel, enjoying great success sprinting to the byline and being involved in most attacks.
There is certainly a combination growing with left wing-back Marcos Alonso and Chelsea fans can be excited to see what he does moving forward.
