Leicester City and Chelsea face each other in Saturday’s early kick-off this weekend as the Premier League returns with an intriguing fixture.
All eyes will be on Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca in the dugout because of the return to his former club.
For Maresca, he’s going back to face a Leicester side that he led to the Championship title and promotion last season. Despite the success last year, he left the Foxes in the summer to take charge at Stamford Bridge.
Leicester manager Steve Cooper has praised Chelsea’s Maresca ahead of the upcoming meeting with him.
It feels like an important Premier League game for both sides. Chelsea have the opportunity to try consolidate third in the division table, while Leicester need to try pull further away from the relegation zone.

Paul Merson predicts Leicester vs Chelsea
According to Paul Merson, Chelsea will record a comfortable victory this weekend when they travel to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester.
Merson told Sportskeeda: “The only reason why you would think Leicester have a chance here is because we are coming off an international break. Chelsea would have had players involved with their national teams and their travel could have been tiring. But I would still have to go with Chelsea in this one. They are playing alright and I have a feeling this could be an easy win…
“Leicester are not expected to cause Chelsea a lot of problems here. I’m predicting an easy win for the Blues.
“Prediction: Leicester City 0-3 Chelsea.”
It’s going to be very interesting to see what the Chelsea team selection looks like in a couple of days time at Leicester. In particular, who will start on the right wing between Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke?
Jason Cundy thinks Chelsea’s Madueke will be confident of facing Leicester after back-to-back starts with England during the international break. However, there’s no doubt that he’s got in-form teammate Neto breathing down his neck for the starting position on the right flank.
Chelsea and Leicester head to head
In recent times, Chelsea have enjoyed their meetings with English rivals Leicester. It would make sense if they’re the favourites going into this weekend, too.
Here is a look at the previous five results between them:
| Date | Competition | Result |
| 17 March 2024 | FA Cup | Chelsea 4-2 Leicester City |
| 11 March 2023 | Premier League | Leicester City 1-3 Chelsea |
| 27 August 2022 | Premier League | Chelsea 2-1 Leicester City |
| 19 May 2022 | Premier League | Chelsea 1-1 Leicester City |
| 20 November 2021 | Premier League | Leicester City 0-3 Chelsea |
One advantage that the Foxes squad may have on Saturday is they know Maresca’s tactics inside out after working under him last year. Interestingly, Leicester’s Harry Winks tipped Maresca for the top of management last season.
