Paul Merson picked out Mason Mount as the only real positive from Chelsea’s recent match.
The Blues were beaten 2-0 away to Leicester City in midweek during a Premier League fixture, which is a result that means they have lost five of their last eight league games.
Frank Lampard’s side are eighth in the table right now and at least have the distraction of the FA Cup fourth round tie with Championship side Luton Town this weekend.
It’s crucial that the team tries to get back to winning ways and they desperately need to regain some form.
Sky Sports pundit Merson felt that Chelsea academy graduate Mount was a rare bright light from the Leicester loss.
The 22-year-old central midfielder showed plenty of work-rate, energy and intent, but the final ball was lacking from his side.
“I think Mason Mount was the only one who left everything out on the pitch [against Leicester],” Merson wrote in the Daily Star.

Mount, who earns £88,000-a-week, is getting the recognition he deserves in recent weeks, as he’s one of the few that has not allowed his levels to drop.
The England international is beginning to look more of a threat with his box-to-box runs from the centre of the park, as he knows goals and assists will help elevate his game.
But his endeavour and passion is something a lot of his teammates can learn from.
He’s a nailed-on starter in the Chelsea XI, so it’ll be interesting to see if Lampard rests him in the cup.
