Paul Merson has urged Chelsea to appoint Brendan Rodgers as their new manager.
Todd Boehly, along with the rest of the Chelsea hierarchy, are now searching for yet another new manager.
The Blues sacked Graham Potter on Sunday, who exited Stamford Bridge with a win rate of just 39 per cent across all competitions.
Brendan Rodgers was another manager casualty at the weekend, losing his job at Leicester City after a fairly successful four years. He did leave the King Power Stadium with the Foxes in the Premier League relegation zone, though.
The 50-year-old did manage back-to-back fifth-placed finishes with the Foxes. He even broke Chelsea’s hearts by beating them in the FA Cup final back in 2021 and winning Leicester the competition for the first time in their history.

Sky Sports pundit Merson suggests Chelsea should pick Rodgers to become Potter’s successor.
“I would like to see Brendan Rodgers in at Chelsea,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“Rodgers ticks every box; he plays on the front foot, he started his coaching career at Chelsea and knows the club. But the timing of the Chelsea job coming up this time hasn’t worked in his favour, with him getting the sack at Leicester four hours before Potter was relieved of his duties.
“Chelsea fans will question why they should turn to a manager who has just been sacked by Leicester, but if you look at the all-round picture, Rodgers is a good manager who has worked at top clubs like Liverpool and Celtic, won trophies at Leicester and put them on the brink of Champions League qualification. I just think Rodgers is the one.”

It’s interesting to note that Rodgers described Potter’s job at Chelsea as a “difficult challenge” only last month due to the oversized squad.
We can’t picture a Rodgers appointment at Stamford Bridge going down too well with the Blues fanbase, who are hoping for the best in the business to walk through the doors.
In fairness, the Northern Irishman has won trophies in the past with Leicester and Celtic. Could the former Chelsea youth team coach cut it as the senior manager at Stamford Bridge, though?
