French football expert Jonathan Johnson has claimed that Chelsea are about to sign one of Ligue 1’s top prospects in Lesley Ugochukwu.
He told Football Daily that he believes a loan to Strasbourg could be best for his development in the upcoming season.
It has been claimed that a deal has been agreed for the Blues to bring in Ugochukwu on a long-term contract from Rennes.

They are short of depth in the midfield position right now, after losing the likes of N’golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
However, it is already believed that they are looking to loan out the youngster after they bring him in, making the most of their partner club in Strasbourg.
Ugochukwu praised
Johnson has claimed though that they are going to be bringing in a seriously talented player.
He said: “Absolutely. Ugochukwu is one of the top prospects in Ligue 1. He’s really impressed with Rennes this last season. It’s obviously disappointing to see a player with such potential potentially leaving but the fact that he might be loaned back to Strasbourg I think would probably be the best thing for his development at this moment in time.

“A player with phenomenal potential. I don’t think it would have been beyond the realms of possibility that he would have stayed at Chelsea and perhaps had a squad role, but I think in terms of his development, and certainly what we’ve seen from him across the last 12-18 months, it makes the most sense for him to be at Strasbourg.
“Getting regular minutes for them this season and then for Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea to reassess next summer.”
It does seem as if the Blues have found yet another star for the future.
