Phil Foden has just sent a message to Cole Palmer on Instagram after Chelsea announced his arrival at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have signed the 21-year-old in a £42.5m deal from Manchester City.
So, what did Phil Foden send to Cole Palmer after Chelsea confirmed the signing? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the pair are very close, having grown up in the Manchester City academy together.
Palmer and Foden shared a pitch on 21 occasions at Manchester City, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup together under Pep Guardiola.
Now, the England international has sent a message to Chelsea’s new No.20 after he completed his move to Stamford Bridge.
Foden wrote “all the best” in the comments section of Palmer’s post on Instagram, after the England Under-21 international uploaded a heartfelt goodbye to the Citizens.

The Manchester-born forward has been with Manchester City since the age of 2010, when he was just eight years of age.
Cole Palmer can leapfrog Phil Foden
As things stand, Foden is the vastly superior player with two years on Palmer.
However – as anybody who plays Fantasy Premier League will know – Guardiola loves to rotate, which has forced Foden to share the spotlight with players like Jack Grealish, Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.
For example, the 23-year-old started just 22 of Manchester City’s 38 Premier League games last season.

As a result, the Manchester City No.47 is not really where he should be for his level of immense talent – at this point, he should be the main man for England and the Citizens.
Therefore, if Mauricio Pochettino hands Palmer the responsibility of being a talismanic figure at Chelsea, there is no reason why he cannot leapfrog Foden in terms of reputation – and also skill.
