Thomas Tuchel has given huge praise to Chelsea’s Timo Werner for his individual performance last night.
Werner, who scored one and made two assists, helped guide Chelsea to a 3-2 victory away to Luton Town in the FA Cup third round. The Blues had to come from behind on two occasions before finally securing a scrappy win in the cup.
Werner, 25, finished the game after making a match-winning contribution for his side in attack.
The German forward scored an equalising in calm fashion to make it 2-2 after getting on the end of a pass from teammate Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
However, the speedster’s game outside of his goal contributions still looked a little rusty.
Chelsea manager Tuchel was extremely positive about the 25-year-old’s latest display, though.
“Timo played very well, I am happy for that, and Romelu got his goal. That is why we left them on the pitch. These matches are, at the moment, the most important matches for them even if they think they should’ve played this match or this match,” Tuchel said.
“We want them to play with full focus and take this seriously because this is where you grow in confidence, where you can get your confidence. Timo did very well and Romelu got his goal so it’s only positive.”

Chelsea future should be in doubt
Yes, Werner came up with the goods eventually during the Luton contest.
There is no doubting he’s got the pace, movement and talent to provide a serious threat to most defences.
However, he looks short of confidence right now.
There were plenty of poor touches from the attacker during the 90 minutes, which is perhaps a reason why he’s not a nailed-on starter in the current side.
Teammates such as Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz definitely belong further up the pecking order than him right now for the attacking spots.
Werner remains a big fan favourite that shows in snippets his ability, but question marks need to be raised about his future next season.
