One player that Chelsea sold in the summer is absolutely loving his time at his new club.
It was another busy period for Chelsea in the recent summer transfer window, with so many different incomings and outgoings.
The Blues sold several individuals to help balance the books, including Diego Moreira.
Moreira only arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023 from Benfica, but he was allowed to leave on a permanent basis just a year later to join Strasbourg. So far, the 20-year-old talent is excelling in his new home in France.

Diego Moreira on leaving Chelsea
Moreira has just explained the “relief” of leaving Chelsea and the happiness he’s finding with Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.
“Since I got here, it’s been a relief. I rediscover this joy of playing football, of having fun,” Moreira told La Derniere Heure.
“Then everything is great: the coach, the club, the infrastructure, the quality of life, the city.”
Moreira has quickly become an important player for Strasbourg, playing in all seven league games. Interestingly, the Portuguese youngster has been an attacking winger during his development, but he’s dropped deeper into a left-back position in recent appearances.
Squad depth at Chelsea
Unfortunately, the current path into Chelsea’s squad looked almost impossible for someone like Moreira. It’s great to hear he’s much happier this season following his move away.
Blues manager Enzo Maresca is in a very healthy position that he’s pretty much got two very strong starting line-ups, which has allowed him to rotate heavily in the opening months of the season.
The pattern is emerging that one side will tackle the various cup competitions, including the Conference League on Thursday nights. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s strongest XI is being kept fit and fresh for the Premier League campaign.
There’s been plenty of criticism fired at the club for their transfer strategy in recent windows, but they may feel it’s justified with the group of players that’s now been assembled.
