Reports have claimed that Chelsea players were quick to go up to a player who was not Raheem Sterling after the second goal last night.

According to Football London, the majority of players were quicker to recognise the efforts of Cole Palmer, who again created the goal for his teammate.

Palmer enjoyed another excellent evening for his new side as they got themselves past lower league opposition, Blackburn Rovers, to book their place in the quarter-finals.

With Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United all out of the competition already, there is a real opportunity for the sides left to go on and do something special this season in this tournament.

The 21-year-old was yet again at his best last night, with pundit Glenn Murray who was watching the game describing him as the best player on the pitch by some distance.

This has not been a new sight since his deadline day move to Stamford Bridge. The defeat against Brentford showed his qualities clearly despite the Blues not winning the game.

It seems his teammates are observant to his talents too. They made sure he got lots of the praise for winning the ball back high and setting up Sterling to give the Blues some breathing space in the second half.

The performance in general had been quite laboured from Chelsea, although their main positives will have been some of the players returning from injury.

Captain Reece James got through an hour seemingly unscathed, starting his first game since the curtain raiser against Liverpool back in August.

Meanwhile, Benoit Badiashile returned to the fold for the first time under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

He marked the occasion with a goal, a moment which saw a number of his teammates look even more elated than him.
