Chelsea’s Portuguese contingent where not as prevalent last night when they drew 0-0 with Scotland in the Nations League.

Joao Felix was the only one on show, coming off the bench in the 88th minute to try and find a late winner.

Renato Veiga was the star of the show in their first game of the international break, with Portuguese media delighted with what the future looks like with him in their side.

Pedro Neto was nowhere to be seen in the matchday squad last night, with Enzo Maresca hoping he has not picked up his first injury concern as a Chelsea player.

As Portugal pushed for a late goal, Felix looked to make an immediate impact as he has for Chelsea. He is yet to start a Premier League game.

Joao Felix tries to make impact for Portugal

While A Bola hinted they were frustrated that he was brought off the bench rather than Trincao, they did state that the impact he looked to make out wide was something no other player had done before him.

They said: He came on in the 88th minute to try to do the wing shot that the others had not managed until then.

“He didn’t have time to show his renowned talent and it doesn’t seem like he came on with the agonistic ability needed to play for just two minutes. And yes: he came on and Trincão was left on the bench.”

Felix waiting to kickstart Chelsea career

Felix has been forced to wait patiently at Stamford Bridge to get his second spell at the club underway, with Cole Palmer performing brilliantly in his role.

He is likely to still get plenty of his opportunities in the cup competitions, and the Blues are back in action in Europe next Thursday.

The likelihood remains though that he will be on Maresca’s bench ready to make an impact when they make the trip to Anfield to take on league-leaders Liverpool.
