Thomas Tuchel who is tipped to be the next Chelsea manager reportedly had his eye on two Blues stars Jorginho and Antonio Rudiger during his time at PSG.

Both Jorginho and Rudiger fell behind in Chelsea’s pecking order under Frank Lampard, making just eight and four Premier League starts so far this season, respectively.

But now that Lampard has left his post as manager at Chelsea, the pair could benefit from the club’s reported decision to appoint Tuchel as the next manager (Sky Sports).

In September last year, Tuchel’s PSG were linked to both Rudiger (RMC Sport) and Jorginho (Daily Mail).

Obviously, they both eventually stayed at Chelsea but there would be a possibility that they could play more prominent roles under Tuchel.

Of course, it is way too soon to say that Jorginho and Rudiger would suddenly become regular starters under Tuchel just because of the reported transfer interests.

For the holding midfielder role, for example, Chelsea also have N’Golo Kante and Billy Gilmour who have been showing why they deserve to start.

At the back, Kurt Zouma and Thiago Silva have been the primary centre-back pairing, and they seem to complement each other on the pitch.

One thing for sure, though, a managerial change will be a fresh start for a lot of the players with several spots potentially up for grabs under the new boss.
