Journalist Florian Plettenberg has claimed that Harry Kane has given Bayern Munich the impression they’re his preferred destination.

He took to Twitter to state the Bundesliga champions are planning the next steps ahead of potentially signing him this summer.

Kane has been linked with a number of sides this summer, as he approaches the final year of his contract with Tottenham.

One of these clubs have been Chelsea, despite the obvious rivalry that the two clubs share on the pitch.

However, the fact the Blues hired Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager could potentially open the door to them signing one of his greatest ever players.

The club are desperate to strengthen their ranks up front after a dire campaign in terms of finding the net on a regular basis.

Tuchel wants Kane

No player at Stamford Bridge got into double digits for the campaign, and that will simply not be enough for a side with the ambitions of Chelsea.

While news of a Kane exit began to die down, Plettenberg has now claimed that Bayern are registering their interest in a permanent deal.

He said: “News on Kane: Internally and after new rounds, he‘s the top striker transfer target now. Still difficult but Bayern got the signal from Kane that Bayern is his preferred destination.

“Bayern bosses, planning the next steps now. Bayern optimistic to get Kane for less.”

It was always unlikely that the Blues were going to be able to pull off a deal to sign Kane, with the reception that would meet Spurs chiefs unimaginable if he was sold to a rival.

If he does stay, all eyes will turn to next season as he has the opportunity to leave the club on a free.
