Stuart Attwell appointed as referee for Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

The referee on that day was John Brooks, however the Premier League’s recent announcement for officials for the next Blues game says that Stuart Attwell in charge of proceedings.

Constantine Hatzidakis and Natalie Aspinall will run the line, with Simon Hooper the fourth official. Michael Salisbury will be in charge of VAR.

The Blues have played two games with Attwell in charge this season, winning both against Aston Villa and West Ham at home.

Chelsea’s lucky break with Attwell in charge

On deadline day of the winter transfer window, Chelsea were in real trouble as they trailed 1-0 to West Ham at home at half-time.

Pedro Neto eased their concerns with the equaliser, only after a lengthy check that there had not been a foul in the build up from Levi Colwill.

Many believed the decision should have gone in favour of the visitors, however the Blues got away with one and went on to win the game 2-1 thanks to a deflected winner.

The Blues have had refereeing decisions they believe to have gone against them this season, and will be hoping the officials are not the source of anger again this weekend.
