PSG manager Luis Enrique says what’s really stood out to him about Chelsea, ‘I have analysed’

Chelsea take on Paris Saint-Germain this weekend in their final match of a long 2024/25 season.

The Blues have played 63 matches across all competitions during Enzo Maresca’s debut campaign as the head coach. On reflection, Chelsea should be delighted with finishing fourth in the Premier League, winning the Conference League, and reaching the Club World Cup final.

It comes down to a cup final between Chelsea and PSG on Sunday for the Club World Cup trophy.

Todd Boehly massively supported the Club World Cup because of its financial rewards for the teams involved. It’s remarkable that Chelsea have banked roughly £86m for their run this summer to the final.

Meanwhile, PSG go into Sunday’s match with the pressure of being favourites because they’ve been irresistible in 2025, beating Inter Milan 5-0 in the Champions League final back in May.

PSG boss Luis Enrique super impressed by Chelsea

Luis Enrique, the PSG manager, has created a winning machine in Paris this season. They are expected to finish their campaign on Sunday with another trophy, too.

However, the PSG boss has paid huge credit to upcoming opponents Chelsea in his pre-match press conference by claiming he’s impressed by Maresca and the technically gifted players at Stamford Bridge.

Enrique said via PSG’s official X account: “I have analysed Chelsea, and they have won the Conference League. They are improving, and they have very good players individually, and the coach is doing a great job.

“Enzo Maresca, I really like him and the type of football they play. They use players with real technical quality. They finished fourth in the Premier League and had a sensational season. This will certainly not be an easy game.”

It does feel like everything is starting to fall into place at Chelsea, especially after a very strong couple of months to wrap up the season. Can they perform against the PSG juggernaut, though?

Paul Scholes has commended Maresca for his achievements during his debut year in charge at Chelsea.

He received plenty of criticism and doubters when he left Leicester City to take charge of the Blues a year ago, but it’s obvious the team is moving in a positive direction with him at the helm.

Even though Chelsea were serial winners for most of the 21st century, the trophy cabinet has been collecting dust in last few years.

Therefore, Maresca achieved something quite special when guided the Blues to the Conference League in May. It would be even better if his team can cause an upset and lift the Club World Cup.
