Paris Saint-Germain ace Kylian Mbappe said he is interested to know more about the background story of Chelsea’s rising star Mason Mount.
For those who follow Chelsea regularly in the last few years, Mount is a Chelsea academy graduate who carved his own path into the first team and now has become a key player.
For the rest, however, Mount is a rather unknown force.
From their perspective, the 22-year-old is someone who has suddenly come into prominence after incredible performances in the Champions League, including the assist in the final that eventually secured the trophy for Chelsea.
Mbappe seems to be in the latter category, and Mount has piqued his interest.
Asked to pick the three player-interviews he would like to read, he named Mount alongside two football icons.
“Gigi [Buffon] because I would like to know what he is going to do next,
the France international told France Football (via Metro).
“[Lionel] Messi, because he does not speak much, so we would discover things.
“Mason Mount, because he is a superb player that we don’t yet know much about.”
Mbappe and Mount have yet to face each other in a competitive match. But if France and England progress far in the Euro 2020 as expected, we might see the two young talents play against each other.
Interestingly, according to Switzerland-based research group CIES Football Observatory, Mount is now the 10th most valuable player in Europe and currently worth slightly more than Mbappe.
