Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has had his say about his injury problems and how he has come to terms with difficult situations in his career.
The 23-year-old has had to deal with a lot of injuries — unfortunately way too many for a player of his talent.
According to Transfermarkt, he has missed a total of 42 games due to fitness-related issues since joining Chelsea back in 2019.
It clearly affects him mentally as a player as well as helps him grow.
“The toughest hurdle in my career so far I would say would be the injuries that I’ve had in the last two seasons,” the American told Chelsea TV about his adductor issues in 2020.
“The one that was really tough was just before the lockdown. During that time, patience was also just really important.”

Considering his form post-lock down, it is safe to say that he dealt with the injury really well. He even became arguably the most important Chelsea player in the last months of that season.
Unfortunately, his incredible run came to a halt after he sustained a hamstring injury in the delayed FA Cup final.
“My biggest takeaway, especially recently, is maybe things aren’t going to go in exactly the way or the plan you had hoped for, but I think that everything happens for a reason,” he added.
“I really do trust that and believe in that, to just make the best out of every situation.
“That’s what I’ve tried to do; instead of complaining or making excuses, it’s just making the best out of the situation that you’re in.”

Another problem he has faced recently is his lack of game time in his favourite position, as he admitted just last week.
Pulisic was certainly aware that Chelsea have dealt with a lot of injury problems this season which led to his having to occasionally play as a wing-back, but it is also easy to see why he was frustrated.
Not to mention that he often finds it difficult to get a consistent run due to his fitness problems.
