Ashley Cole couldn’t contain his excitement when speaking about Mason Mount following his match-winning performance for Chelsea yesterday, speaking on Sky Sports.
It was Mount’s accurate first-half finish that sealed a huge 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League.
Thomas Tuchel took his unbeaten streak to ten games as the Blues climbed back into a Champions League position.

Not for the first time this season, Mount earned rave reviews for his accomplished display and decisive moment in a big match.
Cole led the fanfare after Chelsea’s 1-0 win over their red rivals, saying: “What he (Mount) produced today was brilliant.
“He’s one of the most focal players in this team. He presses with intensity.
“He is the one who initiates the press. He’s got the movement. He’s got the understanding.
“And he’s adding goals to his game.
“What a player he is. He’s got that attitude. Definitely next season he’ll be pushing for captaincy.”
Although he wasn’t wearing the armband, Mount’s maturity as a player and a person certainly warrants the conversation of him becoming captain of his boyhood club.

Cesar Azpilicueta remains skipper, but he won’t be around at Stamford Bridge forever.
There would be no better candidate to pass on the baton to than Mount.
Tuchel didn’t take long to realise how important the 22-year-old was to his team.
Since being dropped for the German coach’s maiden game in charge, Mount has started all but one of the following nine fixtures.
If Chelsea are to sustain their top four challenge, then Mount must play every minute from here on out.

Seems like Cole stole the words right out of my mouth.
I am actually starting to run out of said words to describe just how good Mount is.
But the highest praise I think anyone could give him is that he will be Chelsea’s captain in a few years, absolutely no doubt.
