Raheem Sterling admits he was surprised by how quick Chelsea teammate is

Raheem Sterling admitted that he was surprised by how quick fellow Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk is after watching his debut performance.

At this point, it is pretty much common knowledge that Mudryk can run fast.

The Ukraine international recorded the fastest run in the Premier League this season at 36.63 km/h and the second-fastest in the Champions League at a similar speed, only behind Alphonso Davies’ 37.1 km/h.

However, many people were not familiar with Mudryk’s attributes before he joined Chelsea.

Sterling was among those whom the former Shakhtar Donetsk ace caught by surprise.

“From the Anfield game [in January], I was watching at home, I was like ‘bruh…'” Sterling told Chelsea’s YouTube channel when speaking about Mudryk’s pace.

“I haven’t played with him much to see him live, so I’m looking forward to that.”

Sterling missed the trip to Anfield to due an injury at the time, so like many of the fans, he got to see Mudryk cause problems for the Liverpool defenders with his pace on television.

Mudryk is clearly still struggling to adapt to Premier League football but being one of the fastest players in the competition can only help.

Sterling, who previously said that he prefers to play on the left, and Mudryk may compete for the same position, but the former’s versatility makes fielding them together on the pitch an option for caretaker manager Frank Lampard.
