Callum Hudson-Odoi says Steve Cooper had a huge role in his move from Chelsea to Nottingham Forest during the summer.

Callum Hudson-Odoi joined Forest on deadline day and the winger has been speaking about his transfer in an interview that was recently shared by Football Daily.

He has made an instant impact at the City Ground, managing to score an incredible goal on his debut against Burnley last month.

That strike alone shows that Forest have got a bargain, with BBC Sport claiming that the East Midlands club snapped him up for less than £5m.

Steve Cooper was keen

Cooper worked with Hudson-Odoi in the England U17 set-up and seemed determined to reunite with the wide man.

On the role he played in his move to Forest, Hudson-Odoi said: “He rang me a couple of times, to be fair. He’s a very, very good guy, very good manager and I said hopefully he gets the best out of me.”

Steve Cooper can get the best out of Callum Hudson-Odoi

With Cooper having managed Hudson-Odoi in the past, the England international and Forest look like a good match.

Cooper may be able to get the best out of the winger and already has him playing at a high level if his performance against Burnley is anything to go by.

Hudson-Odoi’s career probably has not gone the way he had planned. But it is easy to forget sometimes that he is still just 22.

He has years left in the game and time to fulfil his potential. It is just a shame that it will not happen at Chelsea, as it is clear that Hudson-Odoi is a player who possesses a lot of skill and talent.
