Christian Pulisic certainly made plenty of allies on Sunday.
Mainly amongst the Chelsea community, who all sang his name in unison following yesterday’s slim triumph over West Ham United.
Despite receiving a penalty and playing with an extra man, the Hammers managed to lock out their hosts at Stadium Bridge for nearly 90 minutes.
Their iron-cast defence was eventually broken by one of Thomas Tuchel’s expensive substitutes, brought on with a quarter of an hour remaining.
Captain America to the rescue
Pulisic provided the decisive moment in the final flourishes of the fixture, one that looked destined for a 0-0 draw.

Jorginho’s missed penalty just a few minutes before looked set to summarise Chelsea’s frustrating afternoon in the capital.
However, the midfielder managed to crack a smile at full-time thanks to his younger teammate.
With West Ham down to ten men following the dismissal of Craig Dawson, Tuchel’s side managed to produce one last attack with greater freedom than they’d previously been allowed.
Romelu Lukaku’s efforts to close down the opposition led to the ball being returned to the Blues.
Chelsea could then spring forward, utilising the newfound space ahead of them.
N’Golo Kante drove towards the left and passed onto Marcos Alonso, whose cross perfectly found the feet of Pulisic.
The 23-year-old swept his shot past Lukasz Fabianski, sending a shockwave through a small section of South West London.
A hit with Harlow
Clearly, the American’s goal managed to travel across the airwaves and reach those watching back at home.
It even hit the screens of internationally-acclaimed rapper Jack Harlow, who is apparently a big Chelsea fan.
Harlow, famed for the songs ‘Whats Poppin’ and ‘First Class’, evidently enjoyed Pulisic’s winner, as he reposted it on his Instagram story.

He accompanied it with a few emojis, whilst also tagging the scorer in the post.
Just a cheeky claim to fame for you there, Christian.
