Journalist Nizaar Kinsella has now claimed that one Chelsea youngster has been catching the eye behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge.
He told the ‘London is Blue’ podcast that many have been really impressed by Alex Matos so far this season.
Matos has made his Premier League debut for the Blues this season already, which is perhaps a statement in itself as to just how big an impact he has made.
Mauricio Pochettino has publicly praised the 19-year-old too based on what he has seen since joining the club.
His development is now set to take a big boost as he prepares for a loan spell to Championship side Huddersfield for the remainder of the campaign.
Chelsea supporters will have fond memories of loans to the Terriers, with them being partly responsible for the meteoric rise of Levi Colwill.
Matos impressing behind the scenes at Chelsea
Kinsella has now claimed that the Championship side would not even be considering loaning Matos if they didn’t have faith in his abilities, and this is a positive thought echoed by those at Stamford Bridge.
He said: “The Championship is a really high level of football, and Matos really deserves this as well. He’s been really impressing people behind the scenes at Chelsea, and Huddersfield won’t take him lightly.
“They only want the best from Chelsea’s academy. Levi Colwill is a perfect example of that. It’s a great move for all parties.”
Chelsea have learnt the hard way this season that the wrong loan spell can be detrimental to some of the players that they have the most faith in.
