Chelsea loanee Omari Hutchinson impressed his Ipswich Town teammate Wes Burns with his performance in the Blues’ 1-0 win against Southampton last night.

Omari Hutchinson joined Ipswich from Chelsea on loan during the summer transfer window and scored his first goal for the Championship club in that victory over the Saints.

“I’m really, really proud of him,” Burns was quoted as saying by the East Anglian Daily Times. “He’s come in from Chelsea, he’s got his head down and worked his socks off. He deserved the start tonight and he deserved the goal. It topped off a brilliant away performance.”

The attacker was only able to make one appearance in the Premier League for Chelsea last season, so a loan to Ipswich was a good move for him.

Hutchinson has mostly been used as substitute so far, but after his display against Southampton, maybe Kieran McKenna will be tempted to hand him another start on Saturday when his side take on Blackburn Rovers.

Another loan after this

Regardless of what happens this season, you would expect Chelsea to loan Hutchinson out again next summer.

Are the attackers currently at Stamford Bridge firing right now? No. You think of the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke, who have scored one league goal combined since arriving in west London earlier this year.

If they do not improve, perhaps you can argue that Chelsea should look at some of the other options they have like Hutchinson.

However, Mudryk and Madueke were not small investments, especially the former. It means that they are likely to get plenty of chances to prove their worth, blocking opportunities for Hutchinson or any other young attacker at the club hoping to break into Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

Therefore, the 19-year-old may very well need to stay at Ipswich for at least another campaign or join another outfit on loan.
