Reece James hints that people are not talking enough about £30m Chelsea player before next season

The club captain will be hoping that he is able to have a far easier season as far as injuries go.

Reece James missed the majority of the previous campaign through injury, leaving him unable to carry out his duties as a new leader of the squad.

Despite the fact he will miss the opening games of the season, the tour of the United States has been an injury- free one so far, and an opportunity for players to prove their worth to new manager Enzo Maresca.

James says people are sleeping on Noni Madueke

A number of first team stars will be looking to nail down their place in the side before the season opener against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

One of those who has put in a good case already is Noni Madueke, who has found the net in his last two friendlies.

The winger recently posted a recap set of photos on his Instagram, with James commenting a sleep emoji, hinting people may well be sleeping on what he is about to deliver for the club.

There looked at times this summer a real possibility that Madueke would be leaving the club, as they prioritised the signing of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.

However, the Frenchman ended up joining Bayern Munich, and the fact the club have not really made a move for another player in that position suggests they are content with what they have.

Mykhailo Mudryk needs a big season

A number of players will need to start to deliver at the top level though, and one of those is certainly Mykhailo Mudryk.

Things have really not worked out for the Ukraine international since he joined the club in the same window where Madueke made his £30m switch.

Raheem Sterling is another player who has a point to prove, after seemingly being on the chopping block as far as the decision makers at the club were concerned.

Given the start to pre-season the experienced star has made, things are looking in the right direction right now for him.
