Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly facing a late fitness test today ahead of the trip to Fulham on Thursday night.

The Blues visit Craven Cottage tomorrow evening to play Fulham in the Premier League, with the hosts actually higher in the table right now.

Graham Potter’s side, who have one win in their last eight league games, sit 10th in the division.

In contrast, Fulham are massively overachieving by reaching seventh in league table as they approach midway through the season.

Aubameyang facing late fitness test

According to the Daily Mail, Aubameyang is set to undergo a fitness assessment on Wednesday to determine if he’s ready to play against Fulham.

He was absent from the FA Cup exit against Manchester City on Sunday due to a back problem, but he’s been pictured in Chelsea’s first-team training this week.

The 33-year-old striker has lost his starting position in recent games under Potter. However, there’s a real shortage of senior attackers right now because of the injury crisis at Stamford Bridge.

Aubameyang, who Chelsea coughed up £10million to sign in the summer from Barcelona, will bring an experienced option if he’s ready to play against Fulham.

It’s obvious the Blues forward line is underachieving right now, with the entire team scoring 20 goals in 17 league matches so far this campaign. There’s not a chance Potter’s side will get back in the race for European football if they don’t start scoring far more regularly.

Aubameyang did score three goals at the start of his Chelsea career, two of them coming in the Champions League, but he’s not looked a goal threat in any of his recent appearances.
