Reports from France have claimed that Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram has rejected a move to Chelsea.

According to L’Equipe, the Frenchman has rejected a deal on the basis that he wants to play for a club who will be competing in the Champions League next season.

The Blues had interest in Thuram in January as they looked for a short-term answer to the striking woes at Stamford Bridge.

None of Kai Havertz, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyamg and Raheem Sterling have been able to regularly contribute this season.

Even after the England international struck twice against Nottingham Forest, he was back to inconsistency when he missed a hatful of chances against Manchester City at the weekend.

Thuram is set to leave his current club at the end of the season, with him not willing to sign a new deal with the Bundesliga side.

Thuram rejects Chelsea

This has opened up the possibility that he could make the move to the Premier League,

While Chelsea have previously been mentioned, it appears the striker has other ideas on where he wants to play his football next season.

This will likely see Chelsea forced to look elsewhere to address their problems up front, with Mauricio Pochettino set to get an opinion on who should come in.

There are hints that Romelu Lukaku could be handed another extraordinary opportunity to be the man to fire them back up the table next season.

He is currently enjoying a rich vein of form in Serie A for Inter Milan, and is preparing to play in his first Champions League final against City.

It has previously been claimed that the pair will have a conversation when the Belgian returns over whether a future can be achieved between the two at Stamford Bridge.
