Neither Andreas Christensen nor Antonio Rudiger have been approached about a new Chelsea contract despite reports suggesting so, according to The Athletic.

Chelsea are apparently considering fresh deals for both centre-backs following their recent improved form.

The Telegraph suggested Christensen was set to be rewarded for his form, with Football Insider doing the same for Rudiger.

However, The Athletic claims that neither camp has been informed about this latest update.

They suggest no such discussions over an extension have taken place, nor has there been any indication of the club’s intention to do so.

Christensen and Rudiger’s current deals run out next summer.

It is a possibility they could be sold at this end of this season, with the Blues firmly in the hunt for more central defensive options.

But based on current predicaments, it would seem strange to suddenly disregard the duo after such a positive impact for Thomas Tuchel.

Rudiger is yet to miss a match for Chelsea’s new coach, having been largely overlooked by Frank Lampard.

It’s been a timely reminder as to why the Blues forked out £34m (BBC Sport) to sign him from Roma four years ago.

Alongside Rudiger on this journey has been Christensen, who’s improvement over the past four weeks or so cannot be ignored.

Between the pair and Cesar Azpilicueta, Chelsea’s defence is fast becoming one of the Premier League’s most dominate.

Whether or not this continues into the next campaign is another matter entirely, but one that should become a lot clearer in the coming months.
