Reports have claimed that Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic is pushing for a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to Pianeta Milan, the Croatian is looking to AC Milan as a potential club to take him at the end of the season.

Kovacic has enjoyed a personal renaissance in the last few weeks, which has coincided with a return to winning ways for the club.

They are currently now on a three game winning run, with the 28-year-old being the captain on the pitch for all of those matches.

He put the final touches on a sweeping Chelsea counter attack at the weekend against Leicester City, making it 3-1 with a brilliant finish.

The game would eventually finish that score, and Graham Potter’s turn of fortunes continued to come to fruition.

Kovacic wants to leave

The most important element of his return to form has been being able to unlock the potential of Enzo Fernandez.

The World Cup winner showed all his qualities in the victory away from home on Saturday, with his assist for Kai Havertz capturing all the attention of those in attendance.

However, that midfield partnership could be set to end as quickly as it has begun.

Pianeta Milan have claimed that when chiefs from the Serie A champions were in London last week, a meeting took place where it became known that Kovacic was hoping to return to the city with his next move.

The £40m Chelsea signing previously found success with Inter, so will be comfortable returning to the Italian league.

Kovacic’s place in the Chelsea side is likely to be under threat anyway when N’golo Kante returns to full fitness. The Frenchman is back in training, as he looks to make his first appearance for the club since August last year.
