Bernard Antwi Boasiako has now put himself in the running to buy Chelsea.

A spokesperson for the gold mine owner confirmed his interest in Roman Abramovich’s empire to the Daily Mail.

Who is Bernard Antwi Boasiako?

The 45-year-old is said to be keen on taking over the Blues, with the club’s strong African affiliation a strong factor behind the bid.

Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, Edouard Mendy, Salomon Kalou, John Obi Mikel, Samuel Eto’o were all bought during the Abramovich era.

However, the Daily Mail claim Boasiako is a massive admirer of Claude Makelele, the iconic midfielder of Congolese descent.

“Bernard Antwi Boasiako is exploring a potential offer for Chelsea. Discussions with various parties involved in the sale have taken place,” said the businessman’s representative.

“Chelsea has a lasting legacy in Africa, players like Didier Drogba and Michael Essien are legends of the club; the opportunity to enhance the club’s reputation in Africa is a very tempting prospect.

“Restoring stability and ensuring there are no job losses are among the priorities.”

What is Boasiako offering to Chelsea?

Providing employment security will certainly sit well with the hundreds of workers worrying for their livelihoods right now.

Along with ensuring stability in the workplace, Boasiako also apparently has plans to make special concessions for children aged 10 or below at Stamford Bridge, as a way of producing a family atmosphere at Chelsea.

Combining these two main plans, plus a love for the players past and present, could stand the tycoon in really good stead with those handling the selling process.

As per the Daily Mail, he has already made ‘concrete enquiries’ about submitting an offer before Friday’s deadline, with several London-based consultants on the line.

He will be up against consortium and groups from America, Britain and Saudi Arabia, amongst others.

Yet, such a passionate and potentially well-thought-out project might seriously catch the eye of Abramovich, the Raine Group, the government and the Premier League.
