Cesar Azpilicueta was apparently not a happy bunny with the Arsenal players and their manager yesterday.

According to football.london, the Chelsea captain was constantly bickering with the visitors as emotions ran high in the derby.

He also seemingly snapped at Mikel Arteta after hearing enough of his touchline tantrums.

The officials got an earful from the Arsenal coach throughout the fixture, as he adjudged his side were being poorly treated.

Michael Oliver perhaps did not enjoy his finest afternoon, but his decisions aggrieved both teams, not just the Gunners.

Arteta’s rage clearly tipped Azpilicueta over the edge, who was right by the constant ranting in the second half.

Chelsea’s £6.5m skipper always wears his heart on his sleeve, even if the quality is clearly fading from his boots.

Gabriel Martinelli gave the 33-year-old’s ageing legs a real test at Stamford Bridge, a contest generally won by the young gun.

Azpilicueta also failed to track Gabriel efficiently for the only goal of the game.

But at least the defender showed some fight in a fixture that demands intensity and passion.

Chelsea outgunned by the Gunners

Some of Graham Potter’s side seemed fearful of the occasion, or simply overwhelmed by it.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was pretty much non-existent against his former side, mustering just eight touches.

Raheem Sterling also largely ghosted, whilst the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount hardly impacted the tie.

Trevoh Chalobah did demonstrate his desire to do well for the Blues by acting furiously to a loose pass from Marc Cucurella.

Chalobah also squared up to Granit Xhaka towards the end of the event, an act of aggression that Chelsea sorely missed.

Potter’s troops will have to muster courage out of somewhere if they are to get anything out of Manchester City and Newcastle United.
