Chelsea might soon be waving farewell to Xavier Simons and a host of talented youngsters as they continue to struggle against the sanctions.
According to the Sun, Simons and five other academy graduates could depart Cobham due to uncertainty over their contract situations.
Why could Simons be leaving Chelsea?
At the moment, the Blues cannot sign players nor reward fresh new deals to the current crop due to the restrictions imposed by the UK government upon Roman Abramovich.
Until a different owner takes the reins at Stamford Bridge, those with expiring contracts are now even more in the dark about their futures.
Like many in the development set-up, Simons’ bond with the club expires at the end of the season.

The 19-year-old is one of the brightest pupils to emerge from Chelsea’s school of excellence, highlighted by repeatedly being called up to senior training by Thomas Tuchel.
He even started and lasted 65 minutes against Brentford in the Carabao Cup quarter-final earlier in the campaign.
Simons has also captioned the Under-23s on a few occasions throughout the term, either featuring as a defender or midfielder.
Who else might be on their way out?
George McEachran, an England Under-17 World Cup winner, is in the same boat as his youthful comrade.
As are Thierno Ballo, Sam McLelland, Josh Brooking and Dion Rankine.
All six have contracts that run out in the summer, with talks regarding renewals for some of them supposed to be held soon.

Whether or not Chelsea’s hierarchy will make their way round to the academy in time is yet to be seen.
There is so much still to sort out, like the first-team players on the verge of leaving due to their diminishing pact with the European champions.
Making sure all staff remained paid and in a job ranks pretty highly on the list as well.
Plus, the small matter of locating Abramovich’s successor before the Blues potentially go into administration.
Oh, the joys of following football.
