Reports have claimed that Chelsea are now big admirers of one Premier League defender.
According to HITC, the Blues are one of the sides who are big fans of Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, who has emerged as one of the top young players in the Premier League.
Branthwaite has established himself as one of the better central defensive players in England, and is surely not a million miles away from a call up to the national team alongside the likes of Levi Colwill and Conor Gallagher.
He launched his career in this country a couple of seasons ago, however it wasn’t until Rafa Benitez’s Everton side made the trip to Stamford Bridge that he became a headline name.
He cancelled out Mason Mount’s opener for the Blues to rescue a point away from home.
While Chelsea fans will clearly have been unhappy with this, reports their side are interested in signing the youngster will go down well based on the abilities he has already shown.
Chelsea admire Branthwaite
The question will soon be asked as to whether the club have full belief in the young core of defenders they already have in West London.
A lot of effort was put in to convincing Colwill to stay at the club last summer, and even though he has shown his abilities this season, he has been forced to do so in an unnatural left-back role for the majority of the season due to injury problems there.
Wesley Fofana has remained nowhere to be seen for this campaign due to an ongoing injury, however when speaking to HITC insider Graeme Bailey he informed us that the Frenchman is a huge part of their future.
The addition of Branthwaite though would certainly not be out of place with the quality the club already have for both the present and the future.
