Anthony Barry has reportedly committed to Chelsea by turning down the vacant managerial post at Portsmouth.
According to The News, Barry recently rejected the opportunity to take over the League 1 side, following Danny Cowley’s departure from the club.
Chelsea’s assistant coach was apparently ‘flattered’ to be put forward as a possible replacement for Cowley, yet stayed true to the ongoing project at Stamford Bridge.
This is not the first time a team has approached the 36-year-old for his services.

It’s been said that Aberdeen, Cardiff City and Tranmere Rovers all sounded out the retired midfielder in 2021, but he showed no desire to leave Cobham.
He also reportedly turned down the chance to manage one of his old employers, Fleetwood Town.
Again, Barry chose Chelsea over his interested suitors.
Anthony Barry is dedicated to Chelsea
Perhaps the biggest offer came from Barry’s ex-boss.
Frank Lampard seemingly attempted on numerous occasions to bring his former right-hand man over to Everton with him.
Lampard was the one who brought Barry to South West London in the first place.

Everton’s struggling manager prized him away from Wigan Athletic, thus thrusting the coach into the spotlight.
Word of his importance to Chelsea clearly got round, as the Belgium national team hired him as part of their back-room staff.
Working with Kevin de Bruyne must’ve been a joy, although Barry has been fortunate enough to oversee some incredible names on English soil.
Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta, Reece James, Mateo Kovacic and Raheem Sterling, just to name a few.
