Chelsea could soon receive an official offer from Manchester United for Mason Mount, according to a report.

The London Evening Standard have reported that Manchester United are planning to make an official bid for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount after the FA Cup final.

United were in action against city rivals Manchester City in the final of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday.

Chelsea have told the Red Devils that they want £70 million in transfer fees for Mount, described as “tenacious” by former Blues player Tony Cascarino in The Times last week.

According to the report, United are “increasingly confident” that they will get a deal done for the 24-year-old and are planning to make an opening offer after the FA Cup final.

Mason Mount seems likely to leave Chelsea for Manchester United

With rumours gathering pace about Manchester United’s strong interest in Mason Mount, it does seem very likely now that Chelsea will sell the midfielder.

Now, while it remains to be seen how much it affects Mauricio Pochettino’s plan on the pitch, from a business perspective, getting £70 million for a homegrown player would be a very good deal for Chelsea.

Chelsea could invest that money into signing a better midfielder or into bringing in a world-class striker to the squad.

Many Chelsea fans will be disappointed to see Mount leave Stamford Bridge for good, but it is what it is.
