Report: Chelsea defender Baba Rahman in ‘advanced talks’ for Stamford Bridge exit
Chelsea’s forgotten man Baba Rahman could reportedly be heading out of Stamford Bridge this month on yet another loan.
According to Goal, the Blues defender is set for another temporary exit during the January transfer window and it would be his fifth loan spell away from the club if he does leave.
It is explained that the 26-year-old has not been a part of first-team training at Chelsea, instead, he’s been training and playing with the Under-23s side to maintain his fitness.
The report states that “advanced talks” are taking place between Chelsea and two overseas clubs about a six-month loan deal for the left-back.
It’s further reported that a loan deal would eventually lead to a permanent exit in the summer.
With Frank Lampard not including the full-back in first-team training, it makes sense for him to try gain senior football elsewhere in the second half of the season.
Rahman joined the club back in 2015 from German club Augsburg, with Sky Sports claiming at the time that the deal cost in excess of £20million.
The 25-time capped Ghana international is blessed with great pace and athleticism at left-back, but has never managed to make a big impression in English football.
He’s got Ben Chilwell, Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso as left-backs ahead of him at Chelsea, which is why he should be desperate to find a permanent solution elsewhere to try reignite his career at the age of 26.
