There are concerns among Chelsea players as the club are unable to plan for the future until the club sale is confirmed, according to The Telegraph.

The sanctioning of club owner Roman Abramovich has forced Chelsea to operate under a special licence provided by the UK government.

Thomas Tuchel insisted that his team already proved that the situation does not affect their performance, the restrictions on contracts and transfers may eventually cause problems.

The Telegraph claims that there is fear of being left further behind by Manchester City and Liverpool among the Chelsea squad.

The Blues are, of course, at a disadvantage heading into the summer transfer window with rivals reportedly starting to initiate talks and finalise their plans.

Chelsea had to shelve their summer plans at least until the club takeover which is expected to be at the end of this month or in early May.

Chelsea’s reported summer to-do list included bringing in a new defender to potentially replace the likes of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger whose contracts expire at the end of the season.

The report mentions that Chelsea have maintained a good relationship with Jules Kounde’s agent ahead of the possible summer move.

Interestingly, The Telegraph also claims that Chelsea had been willing to listen to offers for out-of-favour players, such as Timo Werner, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Ross Barkley.

Werner and Arrizabalaga, in particular, are among the highest-earning players at the club despite their limited game time under Tuchel.

These possible departures mean Chelsea may also have to consider replacement candidates, which would only complicate the eventual new owners’ first summer transfer window.
