Chelsea have done checks on Feyenoord manager Arne Slot, according to reports.

The Chelsea pursuit to find their next permanent manager is certainly hotting up this week, which is leaving the Blues fanbase biting their nails in anticipation.

Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Twitter on Friday that Julian Nagelsmann has withdrawn from the race to be the next Chelsea head coach.

Now, various media publications claim there is a three-man shortlist of managers in contention to take charge at Stamford Bridge.

The Telegraph, along with other newspapers, report that Mauricio Pochettino and Vincent Kompany are two managers on Chelsea’s final shortlist.

However, there is an unnamed mystery manager that completes the shortlist.

The Telegraph doesn’t name him as the third contender just yet, but they have mentioned Arne Slot in the report.

It is understood that Chelsea have done full due diligence on the 44-year-old manager.

The Feyenoord boss is an individual to be named late in the running, so could he be this unnamed candidate?

Slot, who took charge of Dutch side Feyenoord in 2021, is a very interesting coach with an ever-growing reputation.

His team have been very competitive in European football for the last two seasons, losing last year in the UEFA Europa Conference League final. They were eliminated from this season’s Europa League quarter-final earlier this week, too.

Dutch football expert Marcel van der Kraan, who was speaking to talkSPORT, has explained that Feyenoord’s young coach likes to play an “ultra-attacking” style of football. In fact, he’s been compared to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

“He (Slot) is very similar to Pep Guardiola, his ideas are very similar, he is a massive fan of Pep and he plays the same time,” Marcel van der Kraan told talkSPORT.

“He goes ultra-attacking, he is almost like a maniac. Not on the touchline but it is fantastic to see how he has turned an average side into a wonderful attacking machine.”
