Chelsea have reportedly spoken with Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim about the vacant managerial position at Stamford Bridge next season.
The Blues are on the search for their next permanent manager. In the meantime, Frank Lampard has filled in as caretaker boss until the end of the campaign.
According to The Guardian, Chelsea have now held talks with Ruben Amorim.
It is understood the 38-year-old coach is on the managerial shortlist, so they’ve now held discussions about a potential move to West London.
The report explains that there is no indication yet he’s the favoured choice, with Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique picked out as the early frontrunners.
As for Amorim, he’ll need convincing during negotiations that Chelsea would be the right step for his managerial career.

Amorim is a very intriguing candidate now in the mix for the Chelsea job.
Despite the fact he’s in his late-thirties, he’s already a league-winning manager after guiding Sporting to the Liga Nos title back in 2021.
His side have caught the eye in European football this season. They’re currently battling in a Europa League quarter-final against Juventus, beating Arsenal en route to the last eight.
Amorim’s preferred system of a 3-4-3 is working successfully in Lisbon. It’s interesting to note the formation could really suit the current group of Chelsea players at the Bridge, too.

Mikel Arteta, whose Arsenal side are flying this season at the top of the Premier League, has previously waxed lyrical about Amorim.
The Arsenal manager admitted he was a big fan of his opposite number after facing Sporting earlier this year in Europe.
Arteta said, as quoted by Football London: “I really like him (Amorim). What him and the coaching staff have done over the past few years is incredible. They are a really good team so credit to the manager because you can see they have a really clear idea.”
